Position Description:
The Asian Contemporary Arts Consortium (ACAC-SF) is seeking five Events Assistant Volunteers to assist its staff during the second edition of the Asian Contemporary Art Week (ACAW-SF). As a Bay Area wide event, ACAW-SF will connect leading galleries, museums, and cultural organizations, featuring public programs such as exhibitions, receptions, talks, film screenings, and lectures. Most importantly, the highlight program of ACAW 2013 will compose a series of presentations and conversations featuring artists, curators, writers and scholars. These series of talks will take place on September 20th at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive and on September 21st at CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts.
The prospect Event Assistant Volunteers will play an essential role, integral to the success of the ACAW, in assisting with the implementation of the ACAW-SF. Reporting to the Program Director, the candidates' responsibilities will lie in the following areas:
- Work with all members of the team on event management and co-ordination
- Provide support in assigned and ad-hoc tasks, such as picking-up speakers at the airport or assisting them during their stay;
- Work on live events in assisting specific areas of event site: ticketing, entrance, visitors’ orientation, etc;
- Together with the ACAC-SF staff representing ACAC-SF publicly;
- Together with the ACAC-SF staff, maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with the local community, audiences and media;
Qualifications:
- Flexible and Responsible with excellent coordination and communication skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Fluency in an Asian language preferred.
- Qualitatively relevant experience in non-for-profit administration field
- Knowledge and interests in Asian Contemporary arts is a plus
- Driver License and vehicle preferred.
