VINCENT GARGIULO NATIONAL PARK, The Proudest Monkeys, American Trashbird

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Vincent Gargiulo National Park

The VGNP is from Oakland and is the brainchild of filmmaker/musician Vincent Gargiulo. After several years of soundtrack and solo work, he decided to form a proper rock 'n' roll band before he became too irrelevant. With former Forrest Day players Jeremy Greene & Jasper Skydecker, Giggle Party member Ian Mesey, and newcomer Alisa Damaso, the 5 piece have put together a eclectic array of songs that they describe as kitsch rock. Drawing comparisons from They Might Be Giants, Talking Heads, and the B-52s, they put on a theatrical live show ruminating about sofas, homemade pornography, mermaids, Sammy Davis Jr. ruining your Christmas, and more. Their debut album came out Oct. 19 and is currently being supported with a new video every week.

The Proudest Monkeys

The Proudest Monkeys is a musical collective hailing from Monterey County, California.
Founding member, Trevor Lucier, has had the privilege of working with some of the best musicians on the California Coast. From his time in regional favorite Moses Nose, to his experiences working for the stars (i.e. George Thorogood, Jeff Bridges, Jonny Lang) at some of the most esteemed venues on the West Coast, a lot of blood, sweat and tears have clearly gone a long way into honing a distinct character with a penchant for creating catchy tunes. Joined by Mourad Shehadeh on Piano, Ricky Swete on Lead Guitar, and Tim Ingram on Drums, the group looks forward to building a lasting body of work and playing raucous shows across the globe. The music is filled with a longing for the aesthetic of a left-behind past, while also looking towards the innovative ideas of a future in an art form arguably still in it's infancy.

American Trashbird

American Trashbird is the newest arrangement of familiar faces in the Monterey music scene. This specific species of bird can often be heard singing in beautiful harmony, collecting rustic rhythms for their nest of trash and class. Pure and understated; somewhere between the quaint seaside villas and the middle american ghost town dive bars. Recycling forgotten refuse from the bins of blues rock, the richness of roots music, and some liberties with latin beats they have forged a cry of their own.
