Indie rock legends Veruca Salt are back! After a decade-long break-up, original Veruca Salt members Nina Gordon and Louise Post reunited last year, releasing Ghost Notes. The band – known for their beloved brand of grungy pop tinged with teenage aggression – hits our stage with a selection of old and new favorites.
Nina and Louise started playing together in Chicago in the early ‘90s, channeling their youthful angst into relatable pop that took the scene by storm. Their first single, “Seether,” an MTV hit, launched the band into the mainstream grunge world. Veruca Salt exploded in the following years, touring with rock royalty Hole and PJ Harvey. Their second and final album with the original members, Eight Arms to Hold You, also found success when the single “Volcano Girls” was featured in the teen comedy Jawbreaker in 1997. With fame and success came drama and fights, and Nina and Louise parted ways after two Veruca Salt albums. In their years apart, both songwriters started families and, they say, gained some perspective.
