Be Green
This year on Valentine's Day, why not do something
to show how much you love planet earth?
How about starting off Saturday with a walk or cable car ride down to the Ferry Building Farmers Market - when you buy organic and local, your are promoting sustainable agriculture. Next treat your loved one to an afternoon at a green spa, such as Avra Organic Spa, Z Beauty or Epi Center Medspa. Once refreshed, head to one of the many green restaurants in the Bay Area for a lovely lunch. Looking for raw vegetarian? Try Alive! At Mixt Green, you'll sit in a natural light-filled space, and have a great selection of local, organic items. For dinner, Kuleto's Italian Restaurant serves organic drinks, Chez Panisse in East Bay serves only local and seasonal picks! In the mood for Japanese? Try Minako Organic. Looking for something green to get your significant someone? Rag Co-Op has all kinds of fun clothing and accessories, as does Wildlife Works and Swirlspace. Want to get out of town? How about a visit to Buckhorn Vinyards, a sustainable winery. Or reserve a room at Cavallo Point Lodge - an environmentally sustainable luxury resort hotel. There's also new (just launched in mid-December) eco-friendly ferry that takes you to Alcatraz, called the Gemini Ferry! It runs on a bio diesel blend, is 85% cleaner than EPA emission standards, and uses solar technology. Remember, love can be shown in many ways. This Valentine's Day, let your love come out green. Instead of driving your car, go for a bike ride or take the cable car. And if you need a ride, book an EcoLimo car - they have cars that use biodiesel, as well as hybrid cars and SUVs. Restaurants
Going out to dinner takes on whole new levels during Valentine's. With all
the myriad of choices we have, what's a suitable beau or beautrix to do?
