USF Presents “Dorothy Day: A Life and Legacy”

Day-long event at the University of San Francisco (USF) featuring lectures and discussions about Dorothy Day, an American journalist, social activist, and devout Catholic convert who advocated for the poor and homeless. Event speakers include Robert Ellsberg, editor-in chief of Orbis Books, which published the diaries and letters of Dorothy Day; with talks on nonviolence, literature, spirituality, and a commitment to the poor by Stephen Zunes, Kimberly Connor, and Andrei Antokin. “Dorothy Day: A Life and Legacy” will explore issues of nonviolence and a commitment to the poor by reflecting on the life of Dorothy Day. There will be speaker panels with the Bay Area Catholic Worker community, talks by USF faculty members, a student mural discussion, and closing reflection on Dorothy Day. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the USF Joan and Ralph Lane Center for Catholic Studies and Social Thought.
