at Terra (see times)
The Urban Services YMCA is celebrating their 20th anniversary at Honoring 20 Years of Heroes, a benefit five-course fine wine and dining experience on Friday, May 15 at 6:00pm at TERRA, 511 Harrison Street in San Francisco. The fundraiser will kick-off a new program endowment for Urban Services YMCA, enabling the organization to continue providing valuable support for tens of thousands of Bay Area youth and their families for years to come.
Originally launched in 1995 as part of the AmeriCorps Program, Urban Services YMCA has provided youth development and family support programs to more than (200,000) Bay Area youth. As the social services branch of the YMCA of San Francisco, the Urban Services Y provides free-of-charge, life-changing services and programs for youth and families living in some of the Bay Area’s most challenged communities. Urban Services YMCA has grown into a thriving program that meets a diversity of needs for more than 25,000 each year.
“We are inviting the community to get in on the ground floor of greatness,” said Wesley “Chip” Rich, LMFT Founder of Urban Services YMCA. “Over the past twenty years, we have become a solid plank of support for thousands of underserved youth and their families. Initiating and growing our program endowment will strengthen our foundation and enable us to be there for the community in the years to come.”
The new program endowment will allow Urban Services YMCA to continue providing the following services free of charge:
A nationally recognized Reach and Rise Mentoring Program that serves youth across 40 U.S. States.
A citywide Truancy Assessment and Resource Center that reengages students with their schools.
Family Resource Centers in the OMI, Potrero Hill, and Western Addition communities, which deliver workforce development, parent support, housing assistance, food distribution, mental health, and more.
