The Commanders Jazz Combo ensures an evening of swinging classics and contemporary jazz for all ears. The group first began in 1959 within the North American Air Defense Command Band, later joining the Air Force Band of the Golden Gate in 1979 and reemerging as the Band of the Golden West.
The 18-piece big band is considered one of the finest of its kind on the West Coast, performing at Carnegie Hall, the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival, as well as extensively touring the western US and appearing on numerous radio and television shows. The Commanders have performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and recorded music with Marvin Stamm, Steve Smith, Bob Hope, Walt Levinsky, Carl Saunders, and many other artists. For this performance, The Commanders will be performing as a combo.
