The Dealio:
In 1994 a band named Green Day was blowing up the 924 Gilman/East Bay Punk music scene. They just dropped a little album entitled Dookie and sold over 13 million copies. Youngin's around the world saved up their allowance money to buy their cassette (or CD) and felt like someone finally understood them. Green Day inspired their generation to learn to play and to learn about the roots of punk rock. In 2015 they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In October, over 100 artists walked through the doors of the legendary Fantasy Studios and spent over 22 days recording and mixing 14 songs at Fantasy Studios. Yes, the same place that Green Day recorded the original album.

UnderCover has asked 14 Bay Area Bands to put their own twist on the twisted. The genres have ranged from Arabic Rai to Gospel to Orchestral...with a ton of punk in between. Captaining the ship has been Music Director, Brian Adam McCune. We've never had a Music Director so involved with the recording process and holy crap, this album is f*ing incredible.

About UnderCover Presents:
UnderCover Presents enables musicians and audiences to deepen bonds with the local artistic scene through collective celebration of a shared cultural touchstone. UnderCover navigates audiences to a diverse range of musicians by reinterpreting an iconic album in its entirety with a different ensemble performing each song in their own style.

At a time when artists are being displaced, musicians and audiences have turned to UnderCover as a source for Bay Area live music. Audiences are drawn to UnderCover based on familiarity with the original album or a particular local act, they leave with a newly discovered appreciation for music they might not normally seek out. Both participating musicians and audience alike deepen bonds with the local artistic scene through the collective celebration of a shared cultural and artistic touchstone.

Over the course of UnderCover's 5 years, 10 tributes, and 27,000+ tickets sold; UnderCover has established itself as a well curated, professional, yet incredibly intimate series. The result of UnderCover's uniquely diverse collaboration is a ripple effect. Musicians continue collaborative efforts beyond the shows. Audiences explore genres and artists that they normally wouldn't come across, and continue following them long after their UnderCover appearance.
