For the twelfth show (and one year anniversary) of The Emerald Tablet’s first homegrown performance series, Under the Influence, five artists will perform work by one of their major influences, followed by original work created for the show that channels that influence.
Artists have 15 minutes and select the following month’s performers, so each show is inspired by the one before.
This month features Jane Gregory channeling Nathaniel Dorsky, Agnes Martin, and Stuart Sherman, Melissa R. Sipin divining Roberto Bolaño, Jason Morris invoking Harry Crews, Jill Tydor channeling Truman Capote, and David Vandeloo combining the powers of Jean du Chas, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Alfred North Whitehead (click here to find more info on the performers and their influences). Don’t miss this!
Come see what turns people on and what they do about it. Who knows? You might take someone more than just home with you. Under the Influence: because some things last longer than homes.
Co-created with and hosted by Quiet Lightning‘s Evan Karp. For bios, video, and more information: http://emtab.org/under-the-influence-mar-28-2014/.
$5 suggested donation. Nobody turned away for lack of funds.
Delicious complimentary food. Drinks by donation.
