TRUTH & SALVAGE CO.

TRUTH & SALVAGE CO.

“How is it having four singers in the band?” is the question most asked of Truth & Salvage Co., often followed by “Where’s the group from again?” Though answers often vary depending on who you ask, the fact is that there would not be a Truth & Salvage Company without four singers; the band would have never come to be. It is through the collaboration of their songwriting and the unique combination of their voices to which they owe their inception. Since the forging of this completely functional family-by-choice in 2007 their music has been nothing but infectious. They quickly caught the attention of Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes) who signed the act to his label Silver Arrow Records, and produced the band’s self titled debut, released in May of 2010. Before the record was even released T&S was invited to support the The Black Crowes on tour for the better part of 2009, which greatly helped to spread their gospel. Rolling Stone magazine awarded their debut effort with a 3 and 1/2 star review, and USA Today touted the group as being one of the top up and coming acts to see. Countless other shining critical reviews have been bestowed upon them as well as numerous TV appearances including PBS Sun Studios Sessions and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The music of Truth & Salvage Co. sits comfortably between two musical genres, Country and Rock & Roll, and is appreciated by staunch lovers of both. Their performance at the 2010 Bonnaroo Festival was anticipated and widely received, and they are among a short list of groups that has been asked to perform Country music’s Stagecoach Festival two years in a row. Their live show is highly energetic and stacked with four part harmonies, hot and tight. The singers effortlessly trade the role of “lead” throughout the set, keeping the show fresh and the listener attentive. Other notable acts they have had the privilege to support are The Levon Helm Band, The Avett Brothers, Govt Mule, and Lynryd Skynryd and can count sold-out shows at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and multiple nights at the Fillmore in San Francisco as some of the most memorable.

Truth & Salvage Co. is Adam Grace (organ), Tim Jones (singer, rhythm guitar), Scott Kinnebrew (singer, lead guitar), Bill “Smitty” Smith (singer, drums) and Walker Young (singer, piano).

Though predominately Southern in origin and destined to return, they presently reside in their Ford van, dubbed “The Champion”. Truth & Salvage Co. tour incessantly, and are gearing up to record their second album, slated for release Spring 2012.

Soon they were playing stripped down, acoustic shows as a side project, which in 2010 officially became the Song Preservation Society.

WES SHEFFIELD

Raised in a small town tucked away in North Mississippi, Wes quickly developed an affinity for the soulful sounds for which the South has always been revered. On an errand with his grandfather to replace a bicycle tire, he spotted an old acoustic guitar for sale in the hardware store. After fevered assurance to his grandfather that the purchase wouldn’t be in vain, they left the hardware store with bicycle tire and guitar in tow. With good guidance from local players, Wes began his pursuit of becoming a skilled musician.
After graduating high school, Wes paid a short tenure at Berklee College of Music in Boston and subsequently the songwriter bars of Hollywood, CA. However, there seemed to be something missing. It was home. After realizing that his heart was truly in the South, Wes moved back to Mississippi to further hone his playing and writing abilities. Spending some time developing a hard earned reputation for haunting live performances and quality writing, Wes recorded his first album with help from another local Tupelo musician who was very successful in his own right, Adam Grace of Truth and Salvage Co.
After a hard month of work at Creative Workshop Studios in Nashville, TN, Wes had his debut album completed. With help from Adam Grace, Teddy Morgan, and the Truth and Salvage rhythm section, they cooked up an impressive blues-rock album. Encouraged by the legendary Muscle Shoals producer, engineer and session guitarist Jimmy Johnson (Bob Segar, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, among many others) Wes has struck out on his own to bring you the haunting sound that you expect from an authentic bluesman.
