About Tru Spa

While the traditional spa is designed around the idea of extreme pampering and all-day treatments once or twice a year, Tru Spa on Kearny Street is a "New York" style establishment with modern customers in mind, who want specific services and don't usually have more than an hour or two to spare. Tru's treatments surpass the ambience, but the place is still "aesthetically interesting without the weight of the normal spa pretensions or attitude." Modern and plush, Tru's treatment rooms come in an assortment of relaxing monochromatic shades. Bamboo flooring is everywhere, and Tru donates a portion of its proceeds to environmental organizations. Some of the spa's treats include its superior deep cleansing facials, particularly the Crystal Blast, which uses tiny crystals and an enzyme mask to break up dead skin cells and diminish wrinkles.

Pamper Yourself
By Nirmala Nataraj (03/14/2006)

" Skincare studios, massage therapists, and day spas that range from cozy to corporate can be found on practically every street block in San Francisco. But a true oasis of pampering doesn't always advertise its wares -- it takes some time to sniff out the places that actually deliver on their promises of relaxation and indulgence, despite a bunch of ostentatious claims. Every spa aficionado has her favorites, and here's my top 15 list of hidden jewels and obvious winners that'll have you feeling like a million dollars. "

A Minimalist Haven With Maximum Treats
By Nirmala Nataraj (08/31/2005)

" As soon as you set foot into Truspa's minimalist oasis, smack in the center of Chinatown chaos, it's clear that any mundane preoccupations must be left far behind -- no ifs, ands or buts about it. From the all-white color scheme to the polished bamboo floors to the heavy silver-beaded curtain that leads to lavishly appointed locker rooms, Truspa's classical-futuristic ambience well prepares one for an enticing entry into the lap of luxury. Oh, the hard life
By Nirmala Nataraj (11/01/2003)

" In a city teeming with glamour and the trappings of the image-oriented, havens for the beautiful are around every corner. Customized for every need imaginable from those of the no-nonsense executive with little time for extended periods of luxury to those of the penniless college student scrimmaging for the perfect facial, there's certainly a beauty spa for everyone. Ranging from lavish hangouts for debutantes and movie stars to hip and practical stopovers for those on the go, San Francisco is full of unique options for exfoliating and beyond. "
