Congregation Beth David (19700 Prospect Road, Saratoga Ca.)
will celebrate Simhat Torah, the holiday of rejoicing in the giving of the Torah
on Thursday evening October 16, 2014, with a
“Torah Gone Wild - Jewtastic†Celebrationâ€
At 7:30 the full celebration begins with processions around the synagogue where any Jewish adult can carry the Torah and even children can be called up to the Torah! Everyone can do fast and fun dancing. This year we encourage you to bring fun props. Do you juggle? Bring things to do that! Want to wear a boa or a crazy hat - Sure! Have streamers or pom poms you want to dance with - Great!
All children and teens can join in the Torah processions where congregants will give them a variety of treats as they walk. Decorate a Simhat Torah bag to bring to collect them.
Before the service there are several wonderful options:
The Jewish Families Group is hosting a spaghetti dinner and Simhat Torah experience from 6:00-7:00 pm which will include a Torah Processional (hakafah) with stuffed Torahs and special treats for the kids. Cost for the dinner is $10 for adults $5 for children 3 and up, Tots for free.
Teens (8th-12th grade) can participate in their own spaghetti Sukkah dinner followed by participating in “Torah Gone Wildâ€. Cost for the dinner is $5.
Don’t miss this wonderful celebration. It is sure to be one you will enjoy and remember.
