Spin your world upside-down with Topsy-Turvy Queer Circus! This one-of-a-kind event is back for a second year of mesmerizing performances that feature awe-inspiring local and national circus artists. Hosted by Honey Mahogany (RuPaulís Drag Race), Topsy-Turvy dazzles, delights, and defies expectations with this yearís show: Visions. Are. Legendary. The event became a sell-out success last year and returns as part of the 2014 National Queer Arts Festival.
Topsy-Turvyís geographically and culturally diverse cast of queer, trans*, and gender-variant performers use their bodies to tell unique stories that subvert traditional ideals of beauty, grace, strength, and power in circus arts. Past artists have included former Cirque du Soleil performer Marshall Jarreau (Colorado) and Essence Magazine featured artist Kiebpoli Calnek (Brooklyn) as well as performers from New Mexico, Philadelphia, Portland, and Vermont. Building upon the Bay Areaís rich history of dance, burlesque, drag, and performance arts, Topsy-Turvy provides financially accessible, physically inspiring theater that pushes the boundaries of contemporary circus artistic expression.
