Don't get it twisted. San Jose metalheads To Our Legends pen some brutal, bone-crushingly extreme tunes: heavy riffs, larynx-shredding, guttural vocals, a mixture of thrash- and death-metal drumming. But then the local four-piece adds something peculiar to the mix--ethereal keyboard tones, which gives the music a lush, dramatic flair. The band formed in 2011 as a six-piece, with enough instruments to build their genre-bending sound. Even after losing two members, they made a point to keep the keys, and have marched on, further exploring the territory between Napalm Death and the Cure.
