Location: Meet at City Lights Bookstore, 261 Columbus Avenue. Wanders through North Beach from there. Admission Free.
The founders of Dada are ready to travel from the spirit world to the Dada World Fair during a DADA SÉANCE through the streets of North Beach—complete with Dada toy instrument marching band; costumes encouraged! Starting at City Lights we’ll conjure up Dada Manifesto creator Tristan Tzara; at Vesuvio’s we’ll summon the great Dada boxer/poet Arthur Cravan; at Grant’s Tomb on Bannam Alley we’ll awaken the spirit of Dada leading lady Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven; at a secret location we’ll recall the legendary Hugo Ball; then we’ll wind up at Specs’ Twelve Adler Museum Café to witness the materialization of the great Marcel Duchamp, with special guest. The evening is sponsored by Three Rooms Press, publisher of the annual journal of contemporary Dada writing and art, MAINTENANT. Free admission. For additional details: [email protected]
