“Theory of Relativity”

Soap Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of drawings from Bay Area artists Erik Friedman and Ema-Harris Sintamarian, which will be on view from April 28th – May 28th, 2006, with an opening reception April 28th, from 6-9 PM.

In the current work of artist Erik Friedman, he has sought to investigate the fractured, noisy detritus of the urban landscape that he has called his neighborhood for over 12 years. His drawings, all obsessively hand-made, seek to raise issues concerning the static qualities of observation and identification. Ema-Harris Sintamarian works in a similar vein, incorporating complex references to architecture, machinery, and cultural hybrids created directly form her own imaginative psyche. Her drawings are obsessively rich in detail and scope, and range from fairly intimate (20” x 30”), to enormous (12’ in length).
