THE WESTIN ST. FRANCIS CELEBRATES ITS 110TH ANNIVERSARY
Historical Tours - Guests and locals will have the opportunity to learn about the hotel’s rich history during complimentary tours held on the 21st of each month at 1:10 pm. These ambassador-led tours include the Landmark Lobby, the renowned Magneta Clock and the historic cases, or history vitrines, filled with relics that exemplify the story of the hotel. Tours begin in the Landmark Lobby. Free and open to the public.
Samples of items found in the history vitrines:
• Doorman's Cap circa 1960s.
• Guestroom keys with stamped metal key fobs- circa 1920's.
• Special occasion china.
• Official San Francisco Police Department mug shots of Hollywood's highest paid actor Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle.
• Many charred items which were found after the 1906 Earthquake and Fire.
Complimentary Historic Bites - on the 21st of each month from 1:10 – 2:10 p.m., guests will enjoy complimentary historic bites from the “The Hotel St. Francis Cook Book,” published in 1910 by the legendary Victor Hirtzler, the first chef of the hotel. One item per month such as Canapé Julia, Celery Victor and Crabmeat, à la Louise will be presented on a cart for all to enjoy.
