You could easily stroll by the signless Uptown on 17th and Capp and have no idea that you're overlooking one of the coolest Mission dives. The jukebox pumps out new wave, punk, jazz, classic rock, country, and hip-hop, so all kinds of people can get along at this corner hangout. Play pool in one room under a florescent Bud Light lamp, or chill around candles in the booths on the other side of the bar as you consider the irony of the name "Uptown." - Amanda Scotese
