Deadeyes is a East Bay painter, muralist, and installation artist. Inspired by the street art characters in the San Francisco mission in the late 90’s, he began creating visuals similar to futuristic masks. He developed his characters by exploring the fluidity of his lines blending technology, abstraction and indigenous inspired line work.

In Deadeyes show, “the Travels of Idu” he created a narrative that explores themes of Black Futurism. Black Futurism/Afrofuturism has been a constant theme in Deadeyes work for more than a decade. This will be the first time he has explored this idea in the form of a story that will inform each piece in the show. Space traveler who is examining our culture through a foreign lens.

The Character Idu has traveled back in time to our future to collect artifacts of a cultural shift when. Idu had received transmissions from the Mothership Depot, a distribution center that sent Black Futurist to different communes through out the universe. He has come to earth to track down information at the source.
