THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Fresh off of a hugely successful European tour that was preceded by a handful of sold out dates in the US and Canada in October, Swedish indie rockers THE SOUNDS are coming back to North America this Spring for a full, continent-spanning tour. “We are so grateful that you guys love having us here, because we love playing here,” said The Sounds lead singer Maja Ivarsson. “We’ve always had such a loyal fan base over here, it always feels really great to come back to America. Whether we even have an album out or not, we have such great fans, who allow us to play big venues, which is such a blessing for a band.” Kicking off March 18th in Vancouver and winding down on April 21st in Houston, the band are bringing indie rock and pop support acts BLONDFIRE and GHOST BEACH along to the party to help make each night the event and experience that their shows always promise to deliver.

The Sounds are on tour in support of their fifth studio album WEEKEND (Arnioki Records/INgrooves) which was just released this Fall to resounding critical acclaim. BLURT called the album “definitely the most mature album the band has ever put out… Weekend marks a promising and strong start to the second decade of their recording career.” MXDWN proclaimed it “the perfect record to keep you dancing during the coming cold months. The Sounds effortlessly blend post punk, darker pop and Swedish charm.”

Live, their shows have transfixed audiences with their dynamic and charismatic live shows. San Jose Mercury News declared, “Maja Ivarsson is a major rock star… the Swedish vocalist certainly can rock with the best in the business. She's an absolute force of nature on the live stage.” Confront Magazine said of their Montreal show, “The Sounds took the Corona Virgin Theatre by storm with their electro-pop music. Every band member gave their all in this show and it was clearly contagious with the crowd who did the same.”

From the punky dance rock signature sound of the opening tracks "Shake Shake Shake” and "Take It The Wrong Way" that recalls the shuffling exuberance of their groundbreaking debut to the winsome and shimmery "Hurt the Ones I Love" to the 60s style rock of "Emperor", Weekend takes their trademark danceable indie rock "sound" and expands in different directions. This musical journey is most noticeable in the chill-down title track "Weekend" and the cleverly disguised dance-infused "Great Day", which both start acoustically yet build and evolve to a frenzy of passion and instrumentation. To further celebrate this tour, The Sounds are premiering a new music video of their fist-pumping, self-empowering rock anthem “Outlaw” shot entirely from a concert this past December in Helsinki, allowing fans to get a sneak peak at what to expect on the upcoming tour. The video for “Outlaw” can be seen here: http://youtu.be/3WS8lcu_fhU.

Formed in 1998 in Sweden, The Sounds exploded on the alt-rock scene with their wildly lauded 2002 debut Living in America and its breakthrough singles "Seven Days a Week", "Rock'n Roll", and the aptly named title track. Fronted by the striking Maja Ivarsson, The Sounds have continued to remain on the forefront of the music scene, releasing a handful of albums, each spawning single after single like "Tony the Beat", "Painted By Numbers", "Song With A Mission", "No One Sleeps When I'm Awake", "Beatbox", "Something to Die For" and "Dance with the Devil".
