San Francisco seven-piece the Seshen makes songs with an always mellow vibe, while fusing a multitude of genres: soul, R&B, psychedelia, hip-hop, and indie-rock. Their complex soundscapes and smooth beats are complemented by vocalists Lalin St Juste and Akasha Orr, both of whom take a lot of influence from classic jazz singers with a hint of neo-soul. Like Little Dragon before them, the line separating organic groove and electronic music is a blurry one, posing the question whether soul music and electronic should even be considered separate genres any more.
