Doug Smith, a geologist and Chair of the Division of Science and Environmental Policy at CSU Monterey Bay, comes to the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History to discuss the science behind the Central Coast's stunning landscapes. Artists and photographers have always been drawn to the spectacular Central Coast vistas, and frequently depicted its rugged mountains, marine terraces, seastacks, sea cliffs, landslides, tombolos, and hoodoos. Guests will learn about "geomorphology," the scientific study of Earth surface processes and the landscapes they form, and how it relates to the landscapes of the Central Coast.
