The Santa Cruz County Symphony opens its 2013-2014 Season with the inaugural concert of its new Music Director, Daniel Stewart. In addition to his position in Santa Cruz, Maestro Stewart conducts the Metropolitan Opera's Lindeman Program, is an accomplished composer and violist who's played for the nation's top orchestras.
To 'Celebrate' the occasion, Maestro Stewart has welcomed to the stage the world renowned pianist Jeffrey Kahane, who is well-known in the classical music world for his performances with the nations top orchestras including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics, and the Chicago, St. Louis, Boston, Baltimore and Houston Symphonies. He is also known for collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Bell.
Mr. Kahane will perform Mozart's stunning Piano Concerto No. 25. The program begins with the bubbly, exuberant overture to Strauss' Die Fledermaus and concludes with Tchaikovsky's towering Fourth Symphony. Join the celebration!
