About The San Francisco Writing Salon

The Writing Salon is a year-round school of creative writing with locations in both Berkeley and San Francisco, offering classes in all genres - general creative writing classes (introductory), short fiction, novels, poetry, memoir, personal essays, screenwriting, playwriting, freelance magazine writing, book proposals, marketing and publishing, travel writing, children's books, writing as healing, beating the writer's blues, writing "practice," and discipline, and much more.

Courses include all-day weekend workshops, as well as 5-week and 9-week weeknight classes that meet once a week from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and are taught by a rotating staff of more than two dozen professional writers. They are held in cozy, comfortable, colorful settings that enhance the creative spirit (no dull, sterile or fluorescent environments!)

The Writing Salon also helps create community among writers by hosting parties, readings, and other events.
