Formed in Oakland in 2000, the Phenomenauts combine various genres with science fiction themes, a genre they have dubbed "Rocket Roll". They are known for their eccentric live shows and on-stage theatrics. In 2003, they snuck into the Warped Tour to play and were then invited back for the next two years. They then declined the offer in 2005 to play with The Aquabats and The Epoxies instead.
Playing with E V King and Dinners as part of the C2SV Festival, they released their last EP in 2010 and have been playing shows on a regular basis since then.
