THE MEN

THE MEN HAVE A NEW ALBUM! AWESOMENESS!

After spending much of 2011 and 2012 on the road, including a trip upstate to write and record New Moon, their fourth full-length in as many years, The Men needed a break. They decided to take the winter of 2012 off to work on new material in Brooklyn. The converted founding member Mark Perro's bedroom in Bushwick into a practice space and rehearsed there nearly every day for three months, cutting more than 40 demos. By the end of that winter, the Men had pared that crop of songs down to 13. With their plans to take a break foiled by their own work ethic, they decided to record those songs before New Moon came out. They booked two days at Brooklyn's Strange Weather studios, clocked in, and tracked all 13 songs entirely live, even including a horn section.

Eight songs from those sessions made the final cut for The Men's new LP Tomorrow's Hits. This is their first album recorded in a high-end studio and, appropriately, the result is their most high fidelity album to date. That being said, it is still an incredibly straightforward record. Tomorrow's Hits is a concise collection of songs that nonetheless expands the band's ever-evolving musical palette. It's an album full of genre-bending risks, but it reinforces the overarching theme that has come to define its makers: The Men are a great rock band.

"The Men don’t waste any time with formalities in the first single from their upcoming album Tomorrow’s Hits. They slip into full-on hootenanny mode instead, setting Dylan-esque wails against a reckless rhythm section, heated horns and runaway riffs." --Self-Titled Mag

GUN OUTFIT

Overwhelmed by the rising sea of garbage seeping in through every crack in the earth and mind, Gun Outfit respond by playing human music. Their new record, HARD COMING DOWN, is the first one with bass, and it is a dark opening in a wall of artificial light. They think they are playing folk music because rock is folk music now, and anyway... they're country educated. Warm tones, heavy vibes. Although they drink the same water as the real believers of the past 40 years like Great Society, Relatively Clean Rivers, Meat Puppet and Lucinda Williams, Gun Outfit don't get too comfortable with the past, because they've got their own strange moment to capture.

CCR Headcleaner

"CCR Headcleaner may not have fallen on your radar yet, but these three long-time friends, with the new addition of bassist Mark Trisey, are no strangers to making the thrashy, noisy, spazzy jams San Francisco seems to love. Having been in the Hospitals, Long Legged Woman, and numerous other punk-influenced projects, these guys are pros at creating loud, fierce walls of sound. Their sonic output is also reflective of their distinct characters. One could describe both their music and the producers of it as disheveled, nonchalant, erratic and unpredictable, while also mirthful, sweet, and remarkably genuine." --SF Weekly
