RAIN OR SHINE!
The historic Marin Rod & Gun Club (MRGC), one of California’s largest outdoor sporting clubs, invites the community to its 78th Annual Picnic along the picturesque waterfront in San Rafael on Saturday, July 25, 2015.
Founded in 1926, the Marin Rod & Gun Club is one of California’s oldest and largest outdoor sporting clubs. With just 35 original members, the club focused on the conservation, preservation and propagation of fish and game in Marin County and beyond. The MRGC moved into its current headquarters on San Pablo Bay at Point San Quentin in 1956 and built the iconic fishing pier and clubhouse that are the cornerstone of the club. Today, the club has 1,200 members who are actively involved in conservation, education and, of course, fishing off the club’s pier.
The MRGC annual picnic is a free family event to build membership and raise funds for restoring San Pablo Bay and conservation efforts throughout California.
This year’s picnic will feature live music along with a tasty barbecued chicken lunch with salad, corn and more. Kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy the carnival games, and dozens of vendors will be on hand with arts and crafts and even barbecued oysters sale. As always, the MRGC Annual Picnic is free to the public. Picnic goers are encouraged to pre-purchase barbecue chicken dinner tickets for $12 to avoid the risk of missing out. Tickets can be purchased in advance onsite at MRGC or online at http://www.marinrodandgunclub.com/.
