"Fun! That's what The Knitters are all about. A side band from some of the most prolific songwriters and musicians in America. Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Dave Alvin, JOnny Ray Bartel and DJ Bonebrake decided to put down all the pretense and pressure of their day jobs (X, The Blasters, The Red Devils) and just have some fun playing music.
They started doing some benefit shows around town and had so much fun playing what they did some touring in the '80s and early '90s (in between touring with their respective bands, acting, movie soundtracks etc.). The audience had so much fun that they used to sit on the floor and sing every word with the band like a down-home sing-a-long. Don't expect to sit on the floor these days, as there usually isn't room."
