With her jazz, blues, soul, rock, and pop influences well known to fans in the U.S. and Europe, Joice Walton prefers to simply call what she does American Music. Walton was born and raised on a farm in Downsville, Texas, singing gospel hymns in the church choir and “Amazing Grace†down by the Brazos River. Her first trio—modeled on Diana Ross and the Supremes—gave Walton opportunities to perform on stage at school pep rallies and community events at the age of 12. Her sophomore release Texas Heat is out now, and channels music from all strains of the modern American songbook. She is joined by regional group The Walter Bankovitch Quartet.
