Initiation is a passage from one identity to the next. The compelling call to begin this journey is a signal, a visit, an event that tells you that from this moment on, nothing will ever be the same again. The death of my father in 1986 was such a call, propelling me into a painful darkness and a stark reality. In those early years, it was art that called me forward and changed me from the inside out. Art has the power to loosen the tight grasp of the conscious mind, permitting unknown moods and images to arise. It is a gateway to a timeless reality where all aspects of the Self reside, owned or not. Here is where the dance of my initiation as an artist began.
