The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde

SEE EVENT DETAILS
A Trivial Play for Serious People

A refreshing new take on a timeless classic. Enjoy the mirth as Jack and Algernon avoid the petty obligations of late Victorian society whilst pursuing the hands of Gwendolen and Cecily. Young love must win out despite the objections of the imperious Lady Bracknell.

All performances are at Live Oak Theatre, 1301 Shattuck Avenue (at Berryman, just north of Rose), just down the street from Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto - have a nice dinner and then walk down and see a classic play!

Tickets are $20, $15 for students and seniors and may be purchased online through our website at https://www.aeofberkeley.org

Tickets may also be purchased at the door (cash or check only). Reservations for purchase at the door or additional information - 510-649-5999 or write [email protected]

Directed by newcomer Nicole Meñez, who has been busy acting and directing short works all over the Bay Area since graduating from UC Santa Cruz. You may have seen her as Antonia in production of Twelfth Night last summer at John Hinkel Park. She brings a whole ton of energy and insight into this timeless (and hilarious) classic.

Featuring returning AEB veterans Laura Domingo, Maxine Sattizahn, Francis Serpa, Lee Vogt, and Davern Wright, and newcomers Lorenz Angelo Gonzalez, Kirby Hoberg, Laur Raag, and Marcia Kimmel.

Stage management by Polina Litvak, costumes by Gabriel Dominic Carlos, Set Design by Lisa Sullivan, and Light Design by Michael Sweeney, and graphic design by Vicki Victoria, with additional technical assistance from Michael Cohen, Robert Gudmundsson, Victoria Siegel, and Jerome Solberg.

Produced by Actors Ensemble of Berkeley (www.aeofberkeley.org), a 501(c)3 organization celebrating 60 years of high quality productions with a community flavor. We perform at Live Oak Theatre via the generous auspices of Theatrefirst (www.theatrefirst.com) and their artistic director Jon Tracy.

Actors Ensemble also is planning two productions this summer at John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre.
