| Description In Color 2 is honored to present The Ghana Youth Project. In October 2005 San Francisco Camerawork’s youth mentoring program First Exposures sponsored mentor Jamie Lloyd’s trip to West Africa to bring a photography program to 11 youths in Ghana’s capital city of Accra. The children not only learned a new skill but were also given the opportunity to visually represent their country, culture, and religion through photographic images.
Lloyd met with her students three times a week and assigned photography projects including: animals, family, sports, self-portraiture, market days, and festivals. At the end of the two-month class the students were invited to participate in a photo contest held by the Junior Art Club, a local non-profit youth arts organization, where four of the students were awarded top honors. This exhibition is the culmination of more than 200 rolls of film shot by the students in Ghana. Opening Benefit Reception: Friday, August 25, 2006 from 6 -9 PM. |
