THE ENTRANCE BAND
The Entrance Band kicks out a veritable explosion of mind-bending, skyscraping high-volume electric power. The trio – which includes singer/guitarist Guy Blakeslee, drummer Derek James and bassist Paz Lenchantin – set out for new musical frontiers with their full-on melding of psychedelic freakout and punk rock intensity. Co-founder of Ecstatic Peace Records, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, says, "The Entrance Band's new music is the most alluring and, yes, entrancing vibe I've yet to experience in this new age. NAKED LIGHTS
Naked Lights fell out of the sky like a hot plate of spaghetti crashing onto the dirty pavement of Oakland. The bands meager beginnings involved lo-fi bedroom recordings inspired by their favorite kraut, post punk and minimal synth records. These initial recordings were released in the form of two cassettes on local imprint Sanity Muffin and an LP on Berlin's adagio 830.
Their live sound has evolved into a full encompassing post punk unit with artfully executed drums, dual glass shattering guitars and playful female vocals, all entwined with blistering bass that forms a smart yet intentionally snarled musical braid. Naked Lights is currently in the studio working on a new full length LP.
TIM COHEN (OF FRESH & ONLY'S + MAGIC TRICK)
Tim Cohen is a member of The Fresh & Onlys, but when the band takes a time out from each other, Cohen is hard at work creating a history of his own. He’s about to release a new album in a few weeks called Magic Trick (Captured Tracks), along with a double 7″ EP called Bad Blood.
