"The Dilettantes seem to have embarked upon an interesting experiment. They’ve decided to bet the farm on their ability to parlay tambourine player Joel Gion’s modest Brian Jonestown Massacre/Dig! fame into a cult of Gion that, well… let’s say it lacks a certain raison d'etre. We could try along with the Dilettantes to stretch the tambourine into a symbol of insurgent folk, or of rock ‘n’ roll’s rambunctious social roots, or perhaps most readily, the shagedelic free-lovin’, Electric Kool-Aid ‘60s." -- Crawdaddy
