The Booksmith presents JT LeRoy (Laura Albert) in conversation with Grant Faulkner

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Booksmith presents JT LeRoy (Laura Albert) author of Sarah and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things in conversation with Grant Faulkner to celebrate the documentary “Author: The JT LeRoy Story” to be released on September 9, 2016

As fictional wunderkind JT Leroy, Laura Albert captured readers with gripping stories of the Appalachian underworld. Now, to coincide with the release of a new documentary about her work, “Author: The JT LeRoy Story,” Leroy/Albert presents updated reissues of her two classics: Sarah and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things. Sarah introduces us to the beguiling young “Cherry Vanilla,” the son of a prostitute determined to become the greatest ‘lot lizard’ in the hills of West Virginia. The short story collection The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things follows a boy on the run as he escapes foster care and navigates his teenage mother's seedy kingdom of motels and truck stops. LeRoy’s fiercely independent characters uncover compassion even in the world’s darkest corners.
