In a joint photography show, Berkeley photographers Barrie Rokeach and David Garnick each bring their own perspective to photographing the new east span of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge.
Monumental. Iconic. Daring. Dramatic. The largest of its kind. These are the terms often used to describe the signature element of the new east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Rokeach's collection of aerial photos provides a window into the complex and often delicate process of erecting the superstructure.
Inspired by early 20th century lithographs, David Garnick's unique approach to photography portrays the contemporary landscape in a timeless way. His works in this show are from the series "Thirty-Six Views of the Bay Bridge". The series is a re-interpretation of Hokusai's woodblock prints "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji".
