Oakland's Atom Age owe a lot to alt-garage-rockers Rocket from the Crypt-and they have no qualms admitting it. Both bands play hyper, punk-fueled, horn-laden, garage-rockabilly tunes. The Atom Age have really come into their own in recent years. 2012's The Hottest Thing That's Cool is an adrenaline-soaked rock & roll dance party. Each song is packed with '50s and '60s inspired hooks and unbelievably catchy shout-along choruses. Their newest release is a split EP with San Diego swinging garage-punkers Grand Tarantula, who will also be playing the show. Locals Talky Tina play as well. (RS)
