The Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The assassination of Israel's Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin 20 years ago this November remains the single most consequential event in the country's recent history, derailing a promising but fragile Middle East peace process and plunging Israelis and Palestinians into an era of political violence and recrimination. Dan Ephron, former Newsweek Jerusalem bureau chief and author of the forthcoming Killing A King, and Nancy Updike, award-winning producer of This American Life, take us on a multimedia journey of the assassination, the trial of Jewish fanatic Yigal Amir and the tragedy’s lasting reverberations.

An award-winning writer, Dan Ephron has served as the Jerusalem bureau chief for Newsweek/The Daily Beast. Previously, he served as a national-security correspondent and deputy bureau chief for the magazine in Washington. His stories have also appeared in the Boston Globe, New Republic and Esquire.

Nancy Updike is one of the founding producers of This American Life. She spent three years in Jerusalem, writing stories for TAL, All Things Considered, Marketplace, New York Times Magazine and the LA Weekly. Her radio documentary on American civilians working in Iraq won the Edward R. Murrow Award for news documentary and a Scripps-Howard National Journalism Award.

"With remarkable reporting, Dan Ephron has written an epic story...Killing a King is not just about Israel’s past. It’s also an important read for anyone who wishes to truly understand the country’s disturbing present and unsettling future." – Etgar Keret
