Teddy Wayne presents Loner, a novel about David Federman; a withdrawn, mild-mannered freshman who arrives at Harvard hoping to finally be embraced by peers. Very quickly though, his social prospects seem unlikely to change and he feels suffocatingly sentenced to a lifetime of anonymity. He then meets Veronica Morgan Wells and becomes instantly infatuated. Determined to win her attention, David will do anything for this one shot at happiness.
