What is the Verbal Behavior approach?
Functional language is the foundation that supports the development of skills in all areas. Verbal Behavior Therapy teaches language using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. This approach motivates children to:
learn language by connecting words with their purposes
understand why we use words and how to communicate ideas
focus on the function of language, not just the form/length of sentences
acquire a more complete language repertoire
