Former "Crumb" frontman Robby Cronholm is the emotional motor that drives the band Taxes. Robby formed "Crumb" in Southern California, and at the tender age of nineteen signed with Qwest/Warner Bros. and released "Romance is a Slow Dance.", a record that led to "Crumb" touring with such top tier acts as "Jimmy Eat World," "Death Cab for Cutie," and a slot on the Lollapalooza festival tour.
Eventually "Crumb" disbanded and Robby waited a few years before (with a tongue firmly planted in his cheek) forming what is now arguably "the second greatest Rock band of all time": Taxes. After enlisting the services of Berklee College of Music graduate Brad Harbidge on drums and Cincinnati transplant and keyboardist extraordinaire Tristan Eckerson, the trio spent the next year endlessly writing and rehearsing. The trio then recruited the effects- driven, creative guitar sounds of New Zealand native Josh White and solid, "in the pocket" bass skills of New Yorker Jonathan Kepke. Having known San Francisco legend, John Vanderslice for many years, Taxes decided to record their debut at John's seminal Indie Rock studio "Tiny Telephone" and released it in the Bay Area's newest and most exciting indie-rock record label, Breakup Records. The result is a bevy of songs about love and the lack thereof, (mostly the latter) beautifully realized with one of the most proficient young indie bands around.
