SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 1AM is pleased to present, “Synonymous”, a group exhibition portraying skate and street culture on Friday, August 16th from 6:30-9:30pm. “Synonymous” will showcase photography from five artists who have spent their lives immersed in skate culture, helping to build and represent the eclectic SF skate scene through Benny Gold, FTC, DLX SF, Paradise Wheels, Snack Skateboards, Slap Magazine, LowCard Magazine, Magenta Skateboards and Politic Skateboards. Along with the above list of supporters and sponsors, we are proud to display photography by: Ben Gore, Joseph Staley, Chris Atwood, Jason Henry and Joel Meinholz.
Expect to see images depicting skate and street culture, skater portraits, and landscape shots of our beautiful Bay Area. In essence, these images are relics from the lives of these artists and the communities around them. Christopher Atwood, mastermind behind the infamous Mid 90’s blog, captures scenes “about the good times, the weekends, the moments and people that, in the long run, add up to the larger picture in life”.
Photographer Joseph Staley says: “the act of urban skateboarding demands an awareness of one's surroundings. As a photographer I strive to capture the moments in between the action- the second someone's guard comes down, or the activity going on unnoticed around us. As skateboarders, these are the images of our everyday, of our lives.”
Don’t miss “Synonymous” for the ultimate merging of skate and street lifestyles in this collection of beautiful, raw, comical and photo-journalistic photographs.
