CD RELEASE EXTRAVAGANZA!
Supermule + Dustbowl Revival + West Coast Ramblers
SUPERMULE (San Francisco)
Supermule are a collective of the finest pickers and singers the Bay Area has to offer, culled from a wide range of musical scenes, from bluegrass to jazz to classical to funk. The band uses the forms and melodies of American roots music to explore common ground and celebrate diverse musical backgrounds. The result is a refreshing bluegrass ruckus- ancient tones merging with the moxy of jazz and bravado of rock ‘n roll. The band is; Jim Chayka (banjo), Rich Armstrong (trumpet), Alisa Rose (fiddle), Yoseff Tucker (guitar), Zach Sharpe (bass), Michael Carroll (drums).
DUSTBOWL REVIVAL (Venice, CA)
Roots/jazz collective, Dustbowl Revival fuse old-school bluegrass, swamp-gospel, jug-band, jump blues and hot swing of the 1930’s to form a spicy roots cocktail. It’s young people playing high-energy, vintage music. Known for their raucous dance-inducing live sets, the Dustbowl Revival play what some call hillbilly jazz—the original front porch rock n’ roll. Featuring over ten musicians with instrumentation that often includes banjo, tuba, trombone, clarinet, cornet, trumpet, mandolin, drums, guitars, double bass, harmonica and plenty of washboard and kazoo for good luck.
THE WEST COAST RAMBLERS (Bay Area)
This classic western-swing band are a finely polished and sophisticated hot stringband fueled with lightning speed and infectious strumming. They capture that late-40s/early-50s California western-swing sound made popular by performers like Tex Williams, Hank Penny, and Billy Jack Wills. Hip arrangements, twin guitar parts, and a little polish turn the tunes into something that you can't not dance to. West Coast Ramblers are the Bay Area's most exciting Western Swing band!
