With a new record on the way and the support of Live 105's program director, Aaron Axelsen--who has spun their excellent new single, "Hey Collapser" on his Sunday-night local music program, Soundcheck--Oakland-based Sun Valley Gun Club are poised to be your favorite new band. The indie rock quintet have an endearingly loose sound, replete with jangling tambourines, twisting guitar lines, fuzzy bass, trembling church organs and razor-sharp lyrics, delivered in a delightfully deadpan drawl, reminiscent of mid-'90s sultans of slackerism, like Beck and CAKE's John McCrea. SVGC will be joined by with Koi, Portland-based The Hague, Yulia and Haley Maya.
