Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition featuring new work by Suhas Bhujbal, with an opening reception on Wednesday, November 12th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
In this body of work, Journey, Suhas Bhujbal chronicles the travels and changes of scenery that have colored his memory and imagination. His figurative paintings focus on the everyday lives of the people he has encountered. Traveling through the Bahamas, Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica, Bhujbal was influenced by the quiet simplicity these figures carried with them as they went about their daily routines. Bhujbal continues the same consideration of quiet simplicity with his A Quiet Town Series. The urban landscapes, purposefully made geographically ambiguous, allow his audience to bring themselves into the painting, into the journey, and thus continuing its cycle.
Suhas Bhujbal was born and raised in India before moving to San Francisco. He received a MFA from the Academy of Art in 2005. His work has been exhibited at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, Palm Springs Museum, as well as many gallery throughout the US and abroad.
Andrea Schwartz Gallery was established in 1982 and is located in the South of Market district of San Francisco at 545 4th Street. ASG exhibits contemporary work of mid-career artists from the Bay Area and across the country. ASG is a member of SFADA. Gallery Hours are Monday - Friday 9 - 5, Saturday by appointment.
