SEE EVENT DETAILS
City College Art Gallery is proud to present Substrates, featuring artwork by Elisabeth Nicula, Anthony Ryan, and Clare Sydlowski.

A native of Troy, New York and a long time resident of San Francisco, Anthony Ryan received his BFA from SUNY-Purchase and his MFA from San Francisco State University. His prints and paintings have been exhibited nationally including at the deYoung Museum, SFMOMA, and Neuberger Museum of Art. His works are included in the collection of Tweed Museum of Art and the Library of Congress. He received a Murphy Graduate Fellowship from the San Francisco Foundation and was a Graduate Fellow at Headlands Center for the Arts.

Clare Szydlowski graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Art-Printmaking and received her MFA in Printmaking from San Francisco State University. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Bay Area and beyond including: International Print Center New York, Kala Art Institute, The Compound Gallery, Interface Gallery, The Lab and Adobe Books.

Regarding her current work Szydlowski states: The imagery is a digital collage of photos I took of suburban developments and images of historical and current forest fires and dust storms. Living in California through one of the worst droughts in recent history caused me to meditate on the dichotomies of environmental control and chaos. There is nowhere I feel this border between the controlled and uncontrollable more than in the sprawling suburban developments throughout the state.

The City College Art Gallery is located in the Visual Art Building, v119, on the Ocean Campus of City College of San Francisco. The gallery is wheelchair accessible, free to the public, and just a few blocks from the Balboa BART station.

Gallery Hours: Mon 9:30 to 12 and 1 to 4, Tues 3:30 to 5, Wed 9:30 to 12 and 1 to 4, Thur 3:30 to 5
