London Fashion Luminary Creates Immersive Multi-Media Shows Featuring Student Fashion Designs

Michael Rosen, Founder of London Fashion Week, breaks runway protocol at the Saturday, June 14, 2014 StyleNOW student fashion shows for The Art Institute of California- San Francisco, a campus of Argosy University. Two consecutive shows will be presented in the industrial setting of SOMArts Gallery (934 Brannan Street, San Francisco). The first is a Preview Show at 5pm followed by a VIP-only Show; reception at 7pm and show at 8pm.

“In this raw studio setting there will be no runway, no single exit or entrance, and no regularity to the show – just style as it is now, from couture to street wear,” explains Rosen. Featuring 15 student designers, the fashion shows will be an immersive experience as models and artists emerge from all areas of the gallery. Adding to the show’s ambiance will be the make-up styling of Victor Cembellin, Senior Artist at MAC Cosmetics who are sponsors of StyleNOW!

Highlights in this year’s shows include student designers whose collections have received national recognition. Current student Lauren Barisic, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Fashion Design presented her collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York in February 2014. Also featured will be the collection of Jesus Romero, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Fashion Design, who won second-place in the 2013 Cool vs. Cruel fashion competition sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States.
The Ai California—San Francisco design collective N/A launched in February 2014 at the school’s fashion exhibition “emerging...established...eclectic” will be presenting their collaborative designs at StyleNOW!

Comprised of four Fashion Design BFA students, N/A emerged from the school’s design labs, which are learning centers for co-creation. “Our recent success at NY Fashion Week has energized students to creative heights. The school’s sewing labs are a true fashion incubator, with all the students influencing and encouraging each other.

It’s been an exciting few months leading up to the shows,” states The Ai California—San Francisco Fashion Director Geetika Gupta.
