On Saturday, April 26 from 7:30pm-9:30pm, Richie Unterberger will show rare film clips by San Francisco Bay Area folk-rock and psychedelic rock performers from the mid-1960s through the early 1970s at Studio Bongiorno in Santa Clara. Included will be footage by Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, Santana, Moby Grape, Country Joe & the Fish, Sly & the Family Stone, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Grateful Dead, the Beau Brummels, and the Youngbloods. Admission is free.
San Francisco resident Richie Unterberger is the author of numerous rock history books, including Unknown Legends of Rock'n'Roll and a two-part history of 1960s folk-rock, Turn! Turn! Turn! and Eight Miles High. His book The Unreleased Beatles: Music and Film won a 2007 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Award for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research. His latest books are White Light/White Heat: The Velvet Underground Day-By-Day and Won't Get Fooled Again: The Who from Lifehouse to Quadrophenia. Autographed Books Available.
