The San Francisco Poster Syndicate strikes again, this time at residence/SF at Mission and 24th Street during the Cesar Chavez Day parade April 23rd. Members of SFPS will be featuring individual interpretations of current issues and topics, framed by the context of the Mission and focusing on workers rights, gentrification and more. At one end of the parade, posters will be made at r/SF with the Poster Syndicate and at the other end printed tortillas will be made by The Great Tortilla Conspiracy. Please join us for a free poster at this dynamic social intervention.
11am - 5pm for live printing on the sidewalk and an exhibition of SFPS' past works inside. Refreshments will be available by donation!
More about SFPS --->
The San Francisco Poster Syndicate is a loose organization of students, former students, faculty, and allies at the San Francisco Art Institute, formed in 2014. We make political prints for specific issues. We grew out of the crisis around higher education– student debt, the abuse of adjunct faculty in higher education. But we branched out to other movements; the struggle for a living wage for fast food workers, gentrification of San Francisco, the death penalty in Pakistan. We focus on the series of crises facing our communities, and tie together the local impact with the international forces of authoritarianism in the form of state capitalism. We see the moment now as the inflection point between the chaos of various barbarisms and the creation of sustainable communities.
