Public Glass is pleased to present a collection of work by Bay Area artist and industrial designer Stephen Day. Inspired by modern architecture, Steve works in a minimalist style with strict geometric lines and repeated shapes. His designs reflect a practical approach to form, recalling the order and simplicity of Mies van der Rohe and the sensibility of Donald Judd. Steve adapts the minimalist concept by incorporating electrical lighting as a sculptural element. Focusing on the inherent qualities of his chosen materials – including wood, metal, polymers, and textiles – Steve's installations also expose a strong appreciation of craft. Functional and stylish, his objects transform the spaces they inhabit. For this exhibition, he has placed a special emphasis on the diffusive and refractive properties of glass.
